Every three years Jasper Memorial Hospital conducts a Community Health Needs Assessment. We continually strive to meet the needs of the community we serve and to do so we need to hear from you. Jasper County Health Department – New Location

The Jasper County Board of Commissioners has approved of the purchase of the former group care home located at 825 Eatonton St. in Monticello by the Development Authority of Jasper County. The property will house the Jasper County Health Department and serve as a community resource center for Jasper County. The newly-purchased property includes six acres and the two structures on the lot. The primary 8,800 square foot facility will house the Jasper County Health Department’s services, provide room for expanding public health services and offer ample space for community partners. NEWS RELEASEJASPER COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATIONFebruary 28, 2019 After a lengthy search that began in October, the Jasper County Board of Education has named Mr. Kenny Garland as the finalist for the Superintendent of Jasper County Schools. Mr. Garland (51) has over thirty years of public education experience, and currently is serving in his fifth year as a superintendent. He has also been a teacher, coach, athletic director, high school principal, central office administrator, and associate superintendent. Smithsonian Exhibit Coming…

“Team Smithsonian” attended a training session at the Georgia EMC Training Center in Smarr. The Smithsonian Traveling Crossroads Exhibit will arrive in Monticello in December 2019. Traveling Crossroads – Change in Rural America is an exhibition that examines the evolving landscape of rural America which will tour six communities in Georgia starting in the summer of 2019. The exhibit will be on display in the Chamber of Commerce/Visitor’s Center for six weeks beginning December 9, 2019 to January 11, 2020. Biotechnology Teacher of the Year…

JCHS biotechnology teacher Elizabeth Proctor was selected as the Biotechnology Teacher of the Year… Mrs. Elizabeth Proctor has been a high school teacher for 21 years, and had been teaching biotechnology for the past 5 years. She holds a BS in Biology and a Master’s in Education. She holds certifications in STEM and gifted instruction. She is also a certified teacher leader and serves as science department chair and JCHS STEAM coordinator. Currently, she is a Science for the Society and the Public lead advocate.
